Art for me is a spiritual practice. It’s meditative, intuitive and spontaneous. I work in mixed media and address the complexity of being a spiritual being in physical form. I’m a writer as well and journal daily around this topic, tap into my higher self and my guides, and use my ripped up journals in most of my work. My journals have an energy all their own, and I enjoy the patterns of the words and seeing which pieces of my writing want to make their way into a composition. I also work with a language of symbols; the dove comes in and out of my work as a reminder to stay tuned to the spiritual. My process is largely spontaneous. I don’t make sketches for anything but collect materials and color combinations that spark interest. I aim to create a higher vibrational visual experience through my use of balance, color and texture. I trained in makeup artistry and worked as a makeup artist for many years, and that definitely influences how I approach blank space. I see beauty in many forms and in the resolve. I believe my work as an artist is to stay inspired, use what I have, and communicate the Great Mystery expressing itself through me.
