About Alyson 
Alyson Lyon is a lifelong artist with a background in performance, writing and education. She holds a BFA from DePaul University's Theatre School and a M. Ed in Secondary Education from DePaul University's School of Education. Formally trained in makeup artistry at Makeup First Chicago, Alyson worked makeup in all media for close to a decade, informing her approach to layers, balance, color and texture. She also studied figure drawing at Palette and Chisel in Chicago.  Her art has been exhibited in Chicago and is held in private collections across the US (click here for her CV).

Alyson's art focuses on universal themes explored through cohesive series. She incorporates drawing, painting and collage elements and works both abstractly and figuratively. She often uses her ripped up daily journals in her art, symbolic of letting go, and anchors her practice by observational figure drawing. Some themes that run throughout her work include: unity, liminality, geometry and dreams. While her work is reflective of her experience, it addresses the collective consciousness and aims to resonate on soul level.

In addition to her art practice, Alyson is a professional actor represented by Grossman & Jack in Chicago (click here for her acting reel) , an award-winning screenwriter and has taught high school English and Theatre, Ususi Reiki and Vinyasa yoga.
